Playing with Friends!!

June 6, 2014:

Woof woof everyone!

I am so excited to tell you about where I got to go today. I have been meeting so many new humans and it has been so much fun getting to smell all these new things. My human took me to play with three little girls.  We played in a big grassy yard and we ran around a large tree that the girls climbed up. It was so much fun!  We played tag and I ran and ran while the girls chased me with the ball in my mouth.  They really tired me out and I had to rest for awhile. Here is a picture of me taking a break with one of my friends.......

After that, we back to my human's house and I took a nice long nap on my humans big sofa chair. It was soooooo comfy.  When I woke up,  my human took me for another car ride. I absolutely LOVE car rides!  I got to sit on a patio in a marina where the wind was blowing and it felt soo good on my thick coat. There was water all around, but it was dark and I dont know how to swim yet, so I was too scared to touch it with my nose. It was dark water so I just stayed close to my human and she brought me my own bowl with water as she drank from her water bowl on the table. My human even gave me a couple bites of cheese. It was so good!  People kept coming up to touch and pet me. I just loved all the attention I got. It was a pawsome time! Here is a picture of me with one of my humans.

Settling in and Dr. Bessette

Woof-Woof Everyone!

Its May 28, 2014 and I have been with my human for 11 days and I have been trying to settle in! I am not used to having the whole house to myself with lots of toys to play and chew on. I get to sleep wherever I want during the day because my human is always home with me. At night time, when my human leaves to go to work, I am in the kitchen with blue and white paper that I am supposed to do my business on. I try my best, but I'm a baby and sometimes I don't make to the paper in time. My human told me that I was a replacement for another special canine that went to the Rainbow bridge earlier this year on Mother's day.

The first thing my human did when we got to her house was to take me to Dr. Bessette at Southeast Animal Hospital. He is the animal doctor and he touched me all over and looked in my eyes, and then he made me stand on a scale to see how heavy I was. I weighed in at 22.5 pounds. I thought he was pretty nice until he poked me with a sharp thing and I yelped. He gave me a treat afterwards so I guess he was sorry for poking me.  My human asked the animal doctor about my scratched eye and it happens to be a "cat-a-rat" that is common in my type of breed but it doesn't block my sight. It just looks like a funny white mark in my eye.

My human also let me play with another a little kid.  She was little and crawled on all fours like me. I tried to see if she would play with some of my toys but she wasn't interested and  just wanted to hug me all the time. She was nice but she made me so tired. I am having such a good time with my human. She hugs me a lot and takes me to the dog park. Oh wait, that's another adventure!

The Beginning.....

Woof-Woof Everyone!  My name is Zeus.  I am a great pyrenees pup. I was born on March 20, 2014. I wanted to make this paw blog so I could bark about my journey as I get certified as a service dog to all my fellow canine pals, their human companions, and anyone else that can hear me bark! In the beginning, when my human took me home to her doghouse, we didn't realize the bond that would grow between us.  My human rescued me from a back yard breeder on May 17, 2014. Most of my brothers and sisters had already been claimed or taken away, everyone except me and special "Eddy."  The breeder kept me and Eddy in a separate area because we were different.  We both had "scratched eyes", and my tongue stuck out to the left of my mouth and Eddy's tail curled in a funny direction. People would come and play with my other brothers and sisters, but no one played with us. No one took us home. We were the last ones left.

Little did I know that on this day, a special blond haired lady would come to visit. She would become my human and my partner. She saw me and Eddy in the separate area and asked to play with us. The blond haired lady sat on the ground and let us jump on her lap and lick her face. Eddy and I were really excited and happy to be playing with her.  The breeder told the blond haired lady that "Eddy" was going to be kept at the breeder's house as a family pet because of his curly tail, and that the breeder didn't think that she would be able to "sell" me because of my tongue and "scratched eye." The breeder tried to tell the blond haired lady about other puppies that would be born soon, but the blond haired lady kept holding me in her lap while she rubbed my belly.  If felt sooo good!  The blond haired lady persuaded the Breeder into giving me to her for the costs of my past vet bill. The breeder warned her about me being different, but the blond haired lady said, "well that's what I love about him." The blond haired lady wanted me with my "scratched eye" and sideways tongue.  The blond haired lady took me home to her dog house and I was off on a whole new adventure!

These are two pictures of my human and me on the day that she brought me to my new home.
